There are performers, they spend a lifetime, learning, practicing and perfecting their art. A singer for example, begins his day with music, his mind contemplates music throughout the day both consciously during his endless hours of practice and unconsciously when he is doing other things. He ends the day with more music. Such artistes are wonderful examples of the highest levels of excellence that can be achieved through constant practice and complete devotion to their art form. They are sources of joy and tremendous inspiration to all art lovers around them.
And then there are those, who go to school, work in offices, they are engineers, doctors, professors, executives, businessmen – professionals with heavy demands on their time. Yet somehow, somewhere, they manage to snatch an hour here, a couple there - precious moments - day after day so they may learn and practice the art they revere and love so much. They derive inspiration from full time artistes and yet, are fine performers themselves, wonderful examples of what efficient time management and superhuman commitment can achieve.
The success of any musical festival depends on both categories of artistes and we at Salt Lake City have been fortunate to have participation from all quarters. We present here a profile of performers who have graced the stage in the Rama Seva celebrations over the years!
